Disapointed with Edmonton City Council

This is the e-mail I just sent to my ward councilor Amarjeet Sohi. I think it summarizes well my disappointment over Edmonton City Council deciding to go ahead with building the Maple subdivision, which will be another noise and vibration-plagued subdivision along a busy CN Rail line. There was no discussion of noise and vibration

Teach me, it will!

So yesterday I was thinking that I hadn’t heard any trains for a few days, hadn’t felt the house shake either. And of course I didn’t knock on wood or anything. Last night was brutal, the train that woke me sometime around 4:00 am was a screeching, noisy beast. And today there’s been three memorable

Edmonton City Council, please pay attention!

There’s a council meeting on April 12 at 3:45 pm which is where they will be discussing the ‘Maple Neighborhood” which will be across the CN Rail tracks from Tamarack. I’d like to attend but might not be in town though I’ll try and watch it online if I can. What I’d love is if

Update – Another noisy night

Trains are definitely busier. Now that I’m home most often, I’m really noticing that the trains are stacked higher than they used to be. I’ll post some new pictures if I get the chance. In terms of updates, nothing new, but I haven’t been sending follow up e-mail. I had hoped Summerhill would get back

Update (and Powerlines!) – November 2009

Trains seemed to

After we moved into our house (a corner lot) we contacted Dundee in regards to whether they were going to be building a fence on our lot (many corner lots in subdivisions get fences supplied by the developer). At the time they said no and so we built our own. This summer we noticed that

Noise Control

I was contacted by David Coate, a noise control specialist. We’re not going to pursue this but in case anyone else wants to talk to an expert, his website is here: http://www.davidcoateconsulting.com/services.html

We Surrender!

We’ve done what we can in regards to improving the quality of life in the Tamarack subdivision for those near the tracks, but maintaining the blog and the petition are becoming more exhausting than the train itself! We don’t have the time to continue to track down Summerhill (on the survey issue), or CN (on

Busy August Train

Has anyone else noticed that the train has picked up this summer? I’m noticing a lot more shaking/noise in the last couple weeks after it had toned down for a bit. There has also been an increase in the number of signatures on the petition.
