I'd recommend trying to get a video/sound recording of these trains going by and post it on your website. When we were scoping out Tamarack last year, I did hear it rumble by. Was brutal.

My understanding of Maple is that the second exit is quite a ways from the first exit (I don't recall the exact street where the second the one comes out). They didn't think there would be a train long enough that could block both exits.

Still in an emergency I think it has the potential for confusion -- you drive to one exit and find it blocked and then drive to the other but by the time you get there the train is now at that one. Potentially dangerous.

As for resale value? Not really sure. Most people near the tracks haven't been trying to sell their home. Many of the homes near the tracks are second property rentals (I doubt that was the original intention of the owners). One house across from us has been on sale off and on for two years (rented out when not for sale). This latest attempt to sell it has been going on for several months even though the home is priced about 50K less than what the owner probably paid for it.

Wait. So if there is a train, people can't get in or out of the subdivision? That is scary!
I live 9 blocks of residential, which should absorb some noise, from the CN railyards on 127 and 127. It is LOUD all night. The screeching, the banging. I can't imagine being right on tracks. What is the resale value of these homes going to be anyway? Power lines are bad enough.

Hey Paul,

I think it might depend on where your house will be. I live in the center (from North to South) and 10 houses or so away from the Train. I don't find it an issue at all. My house doesn't shake and the wistle isn't heard that much at all. I really enjoy the area and my street. Don't be dissapointed with buying in Tamarack. It has a lot to offer and is a great place to live. One tip, if you are a light sleeper. Turn on the bathroom fan!

The Maple two exits go through train track between Tamarack is the most unacceptable. It will cause more whistle/horn/alarm when the train pass thur every time! How dare when they purpose don't think about the existence Tamarack living family? I love Tamarack, so I completely disagree extended the new subdivision on that area. If they plan to build Maple, none of the exits would connect/pass thur train track.

The worst part to develop east side of the train track... will cause a much louder & sharper whistle / alarm for the train passes thought between the maple and tamarack exits every time... I think it is a real nightmare than anything right now. This is the critical issue to discuss with the counselor how to protect this developing neighborhood and don't create more trouble in the future.

And for Maple's access points:
As for Maple (the proposed neighbourhood on the east side of the tracks), the requirement when this area is subdivided is to ensure two points of access. The second will be an emergency access that connects to Meridian Street parallel to Highway 216. This road connects back to the 34 Ave overpass that can get you to the other side of 216 or to 23 Avenue.
